Managing Partner, Castik Capital Sarl

Michael Phillips is Managing Partner of Castik Capital Sarl, a Luxembourg based private equity firm specializing on control buyouts of European headquartered companies. The first Castik Fund was €1bn in size and invested in 6 high growth companies (water, software for logistics, software for patent management, precision mechanical parts, dental services, alarm transmission monitoring) in fragmented markets, where a buy & build strategy allows the creation of market leading companies. Castik Funds have the unique ability to hold performing investments for up to 10 years and are focused on maximizing value creation. The second EPIC fund has recently been raised with 1.25bn in size and will follow the same strategy.

Prior to founding Castik, Mr Phillips spent 22 years as a senior Equity Partner at Apax Partners, overseeing their growth to a leading global Private Equity firm. Previously, Mr Phillips spent three years at OTTO Waste Management Holding Ltd. in Cologne, as the General Manager of an operations subsidiary and four years at Ciba-Geigy Canada, as an Engineer in their Additives Division. Mr Phillips holds a BS in Engineering Chemistry from Queen’s University and an MBA from INSEAD.
