Cedric Villani
Mathematician, Fields Medal Winner
Cedric Villani is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant mathematicians of his generation, specialising in partial differential equations and mathematical physics. In 2010, at the age of 37, he was awarded the Fields Medal, the most prestigious honour in mathematics.
After serving as director of the Institut Henri Poincaré in Paris, Cedric turned his focus to scientific and mathematical outreach, delivering numerous lectures around the world and authoring several acclaimed books.
In 2017, Mr Villani also entered politics, becoming a member of the French National Assembly. He has played a key role in shaping the discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) in France and Europe, notably through his landmark 2018 report “For a Meaningful Artificial Intelligence: Towards a French and European Strategy.”
